Getting Started
The first step of Player Career mode is obviously always picking a club to play for. After you’ve decided on your new home, you’re going to be spending a few minutes creating your pro player. There are some new customization options which include:
- Tattoos
- Face Guards
- Goggles
On top of that, there’s a new camera mode that is set as the default for Player Career mode. It is called Focus Camera and it involves zooming in on your player when there are key moments happening such as dribbling, jockeying, or goal-scoring opportunities.
Personality Type
In EA Sports FC 24 Player Career mode, the game gives you the choice of specialising in a specific personality type. There are three personalities each with their own benefits and objectives. They are Maverick, Virtuoso, and Heartbeat. Completing certain feats and tasks will help you gain points that boost your personality type.

As a result, you can increase specific stats in a skill tree depending on which personality you choose. Each personality type helps you unlock unique playstyles that elevate your game.
Maverick
The Maverick personality is all about individual quality. They are prolific, sharpshooters who aim to live their life in the spotlight, on and off the pitch. By completing personal objectives and investing in Maverick related equipment and hobbies, you’ll find that you’ll quickly adapt the Maverick personality. This skill tree involves pace and shooting as you’d expect. Maverick personalities in real life include players such as; Cristiano Ronaldo, Mbappe, and Neymar Jr.
Virtuoso
Virtuoso is practically the complete opposite of Maverick. Its main focus is playmaking and the team’s benefit. Players with this personality type tend to be more humble and down to Earth. This personality is correlated to assists and goal contributions in general, it’s all about focusing on your game without many outside distractions. Simply put, these are the players that follow after Kevin De Bruyne, Lionel Messi, and Kante.

As you earn money, you are able to go shopping. Buying certain items or participating in different events and activities will help boost your personality points. Of course, this depends on the activity as each one contributes to a specific personality type. For example, buying a treadmill means that you’re focused on enhancing your football ability outside of the pitch thus granting you Virtuoso points. You aren’t out partying or buying a new suit like what Mavericks would do.
On top of that, you can see that you gain a small training boost and +1 sprint speed. Naturally, that would make sense as you are buying a treadmill after all. So, keep an eye out on what’s available to be purchased as you can increases stats and gain personality points.
Heartbeat
As the name suggests, this personality type involves you being the heart and soul of the squad. These are future captains that will put everything on the line for their club. Not only does this mean you’re a team player but you’re most likely going down a path that will lead you to captain the club you play for. This is all about loyalty, fight, and heart. Players in real life who adopt a similar mindset include: Carles Puyol, Roy Keane, and Jordan Henderson.
Playstyles
As previously mentioned, you can unlock unique playstyles depending on which personality type you’ve opted for. The more you commit yourself to following a specific personality, the more you can use its unlockable benefits. If you are unfamiliar with playstyles, make sure to check out our best Pro Clubs builds article as we discuss the best playstyles for each type of player. A balanced approach that attempts to have a little bit of everything is not recommended. Instead of mixing and matching, stick to one style of play and personality type.

Overall, you’ll be able to create a player that’s authentic to you by picking a personality that fits you and your intended style of play. Of course, there are regular playstyles that are unlockable as you level up your player. However, to get your hands on those incredible playstyles+, you’ll need to focus on a personality type and its objectives. Midfielders, defenders, wingers, strikers, and goalkeepers all need to choose a personality type and use it as player development.
Agents
The new feature to Player Career mode is the introduction of agents. Throughout your career, you’ll have an agent that helps shape your career path for you. Not only can they target clubs and help with negotiations, but they also comment on your successes and failures accordingly, acting as a helpful tour guide of sorts.
Tactical knowledge and efficiency in match preparations is all down to the manager but player agents have different levels of knowledge focusing more on your career path. You’ll find that the system is fairly straightforward, meaning all you have to do is kick a ball and let your agent take care of things. You just add your input, expectations, and targets. Having an agent is as useful as this EA Sports FC 24 Player Career mode guide.
Negotiations and Objectives
Your agent plays a pivotal role in ensuring you get where you want to go. At the end of each season, your progress is reviewed as the board decide what’s next for you and your role at the club. Having an agent helps you plan accordingly, offering numerous options and back up plans in case things go south. Therefore, when it comes to negotiations and planning, we’re glad someone’s got our back.

If you’re going to leave, you can join your target team (if they are interested) or join one of the clubs recommended to you by your agent. Furthermore, there are a set of mandatory and optional objectives determined by the prestigiousness of the club and league you play in. Mandatory objectives MUST be met in order for you to negotiate a new contract with the club. On the other hand, optional objectives do not have to be met but you will find that the club compensates you well if you do succeed in fulfilling them.
Target Team and Recommendations
Your target team is basically your next move. If you play for a smaller club, giants such as Manchester United and Liverpool might not be interested in signing players from your squad. Therefore, you’ll have to make a smaller leap to another club before reaching your ultimate goal. For example, you can go from Paris FC, to Monaco, to Dortmund, to Manchester City.

You do not have to worry about thinking where you could go before you reach the big clubs. This is because your agent already recommends stepping-stone clubs you can play for until you’re ready to sign for your dream club. Of course, you’re only allowed to have one target team active at a time, but you can change it whenever. The most important thing to note is you must meet your target club’s seasonal objectives in order for them to be interested in signing you.
How to Level Up Fast
Basically, taking into account all of the information provided to you in this guide, you’ve got a great chance at levelling up quickly. Combining great form with smart purchases that fit within your chosen personality type will ensure that you unlock amazing playstyles and stat boosts. This will then help you perform better and as a result meet those mandatory objectives. It’s all about the grind, so get out there and start training!
Speaking of, training sessions are still a feature, helping boost your stats and XP ever so slightly. Training plans can be activated right before a match so you won’t have to worry about skipping over it accidentally. Additionally, training drills grant you a few personality points that you can spend to further develop your player.

One last thing to note is that depending on your position, your overall rating will increase based on your highest stats. For example, RB and LB (right backs and left backs) will benefit from having well rounded stats with high pace and defending. For a CB, you’ll find that pace doesn’t matter as much as physicality. A CDM would follow a similar path whilst CAM or CM benefits more from having solid short passing and dribbling.
If you combine everything you’ve learned, you’ll find that you’ll quickly become a household name in your club’s city. If you’re looking to be a legend, icon, or even win the Ballon d’Or, then you know what to do! (Yes, you can actually win the Ballon d’Or or Player of the Year in your league thanks to the new dynamic moments feature).
